Dear Friends,

I would like to introduce our new PSA executives for 2011-2012 academic year. Due to limited number of interested people to work voluntarily for PSA, Saeed and I decided not to run an election this year. Instead, we talked to individuals showed their interest to be involved in our associations. Among them, Moein and Majid expressed their sincere tendency and kindly accepted to take over responsibility of PSA.

Here is what we have come up with:

I am sure they will bring new ideas, sprit of cooperation and energy to PSA to make it more efficient and progressive. I wish them a successful working year in PSA.

I also want to thank all of our previous executives (Simin, Noori, Mohsen and Ehsan) helping Saeed and I to be able to run PSA for almost the past year and a half.

I hope your cooperation with the new members helps PSA to stay alive and to be more active in the future.

Hi friends,

We would like to invite you for a movie night on Feb 17, from 7 to 9 PM at ISSAC (the new name of ISO) global lounge located at room 80 Lower Place Riel.

The movie is “Certified Copy” which has been directed by Abbas Kiarostami.

Juliette Binoche and William Shimell star in that and Julitte Binoche was selected as the best actress of 2010 Cannes Festival for this movie.

The movie is in three languages (English, French and Italian) and it will be shown with English subtitle. The subject of the movie is complexity of relationship between men and women.

It is a free event and probably popcorn will be provided for everyone.

Recently scheduled ones are Chinese New Year Celebration on Jan 31 , Club Hispánico (music and dance in Louis on Feb. 5), Carnival of Solidarity (live music and dance in Louis on Feb. 11).

Dear friends,

Here are required documents to invite your family to Canada:

1- Invitation letter. The letter needs to be officially singed and approved by a notary public. U of S has a notary public visiting students in administration building. To find out working hours of the notary public, you may ask from help desk located in administration building. The service is free for students. One letter is enough to be sent for as many as guests you are inviting to Canada. A sample letter, used successfully by many students, is also available. Please email us at psa.usask@gmail.com to send you the sample of the invitation letter.

2- Confirmation of enrolment. You can download this document from PAWS.

3- Proof of your employment in U of S. You may get this letter from the general office of your department. The letter shows you are a full time graduate student with a specified stipend.

4- Copy of your study permit.

5- Supporting letter from ISO (with the new name of ISSAC) for each person you are going to invite.

6- Receipt of your tax return.

7- A copy of your student card.

8- Supplementary documents:

a.      Bank statement. If you have considerable money in your account, it is good to get a bank statement showing your financial status.

b.      A copy of your residence lease indicating you have a place to accommodate your guests.

The rest of documents to get Visa, should be completed by invited guests according to Canadian Embassy instructions given by the Embassy. The process takes about one month to be completed in Iran.

Try to plan in a way that your guests come to Saskatoon during summer so that there is more chance for them to see the beauty of Saskatoon during summer or to travel inside Canada.

توی سسکتون رستوران و فروشگاه ایرانی نیست. دلیلش در اصل برمی گرده به اینکه ایرانیهای ساسکاتون اغلب برای تحصیلات به این شهر اومدند. یک فروشگاه پاکستانی هستش که کالاهای ایرانی رو تا حدی داره اما نه همه چیز. همه ما که اینجا هستیم فکر می کنیم رستوران ایرانی بیزینس بسیار خوبی خواهد شد. مخصوصا اگر برای مراسم و ضیافت شام هم جای مناسبی باشه. خیلی ها این ایده رو داشتن ولی درنهایت عملی نشده بازم به همین دلیل که بازاری نبودند. خلاصه این یه آپشن سرراسته واسه اونایی که می پرسن چه کارایی می شه کرد.

دوستان ایرانی ساکن ساسکاتون امسال خیلی به بچه های تازه وارد کمک کردند. چه از لحاظ اینکه دنبال بچه ها تا فرودگاه برن یا تو پیدا کردن جا به اونها کمک کنند یا محل خودشون رو موقتا در اختیار اونها قرار بدن. من از جانب خودم و تازه واردین از دوستامون تشکر می کنم. مساله دیگه گروههایی هست که می تونید با اونها تماس بگیرید و ایمیل خودتون رو بدید که در برنامه هاشون شرکت کنید. به جز PSA که ایمیلش بالای صفحه دیده می شه و گروه دانشجویی هست یک گروه ایرانیهای ساکن ساسکاتون تحت نام انجمن شعر هست که برنامه های ماهیانه برگزار می کنه و ایمیلشون <saskanjomansher@yahoo.com> هستش. یک گروه از دوستان هم هر از چند گاهی دور هم توی رستوران جمع می شن که اگر توی فیس بوک عضو بشید به صفحه اونها هم دسترسی پیدا می کنید.  

به جز از گروههای ایرانی یک گروه کانادایی هست که وابسته به فوق برنامه دانشگاهه و  خیلی برنامه های خوبی دارند (البته تنها یک گروه نیست اما این گروه فعالترهستند). جدیدا به من ایمیل زدند که اگر از دوستان جدیدالورود کسی علاقه مند هستش حتما با خودتون بیارید. اینها یه زوج خیلی مهربون  به نام Jerry و Shirley هستند که ایمیلشون gsfalk@sasktel.net  هستش و برنامه های متنوع هفتگی برگزار می کنند. البته هدف نهایی هدایت بچه ها به راه خداست که خوشبختانه ما از این نظر خلا تو کشورمون نداشتیم و خیلی خوب هم می تونیم با اونها ارتباط برقرار کنیم.

وقتی که به کانادا اومدید اگر ویزایی که دارید single entry  باشه یا multiple entry  باشه واعتبارش گذشته باشه و بخواهید از کانادا خارج بشید برای ورود مجدد به کانادا باید ویزا بگیرید. (لینک)  

 برای گرفتن ویزا می شه از داخل کانادا اقدام کرد. مدارک رو به سفارتخونه ها کانادا در یکی از شهرهای امریکا می فرستید که اطلاعاتش توی لینک بالا هست. چند تا فرم هست و  پاسپورت و study permit و گواهی اشتغال به تحصیل و عکس و کارنامه و پول ویزا. راهنما رو به دقت مطالعه کنید و چک لیست رو به عنوان صفحه اول مدارک قرار بدید. 

چند نکته مهم 

۱- ترجیحا مدارک رو به بافالو بفرستید. بین سی تا چهل روز طول می کشه که ویزا به دستتون برسه. فقط بافالو هستش که پاسپورت رو با پاکت پستی کانادا (Xpress post/ national) براتون می فرسته. سفارتخونه های دیگه فقط فدکس یا یوپی اس قبول می کنند که هم خیلی گرونه هم توی دانشگاه outlet ندارند.  

۲- برای single entry  ویزا شش ماه و برای multiple یکسال  یا کمی بیشتر اعتبار داره.

گوشی موبایل ایران با سیم کارت شرکت مخابرات ایران اینجا هم کار می کنه.در حقیقت با راجرزقرار داد داره و اینجا به جایTCI علامت راجرز روی صفحه میاد.  اگر خواستید می تونید با خودتون بیارید. من دو سال و نیم پیش با خودم آوردم و از تورنتو و وینیپگ با خونواده تماس گرفتم و پیام فرستادم. شش ماه هم سیم کارت اعتباری راجرز داشتم. ولی بعد از اون دیگه هیچ استفاده ای ازش نکردم. اگر قرار داد بگیرید گوشی روی قرارداد هستش. در نتیجه لزوم چندانی به آوردن گوشی نیست. مگراینکه از قرارهایprepaid ماهیانه بخواید استفاده کنید که در نهایت مزیت فوق العاده ای هم ندارند.

انتخابات برای دوره حدید PSA امروز و دیروز به صورت الکترونیکی برگزار شد و ابراهیم و سعید به عنوان اعضای اجرایی جدید انتخاب شدند. من از طرف خودم و بقیه به این دو دوستمون تبریک می گم و براشون در ایفای مسولیتی که داوطلبانه به عهده گرفته اند ارزوی موفقیت می کنم.  

از رضا و مریم عزیز که دلسوزانه و فداکارانه برای بچه ها و psa زحمت کشیدند صمیمانه تشکر و قدردانی می کنم و امیدوارم هر جا که هستند و در تمام مراحل زندگی موفق و موید باشند.
